La vida del corregimiento sigue el ritmo de las mareas. De madrugada salen las canoas, al mediodía huele a coco rallado y pescado fresco, y al atardecer el cielo se enciende sobre el agua. La gastronomía local — sancocho de pescado, arroz con coco, cazuela de mariscos, langostinos al ajillo — es uno de los grandes hallazgos de la zona. Life here follows the rhythm of the tides. At dawn the canoes head out; at noon the air smells of grated coconut and fresh fish; at sunset the sky catches fire over the water. Local cooking — fish stew, coconut rice, seafood casserole, garlic prawns — is one of the area's greatest finds.

Una biodiversidad poco contada A quiet wealth of biodiversity

Bahía Rada es un cruce entre selva tropical seca, manglar y mar. Esa mezcla la convierte en uno de los rincones más vivos del Caribe colombiano. Bahía Rada sits at the meeting point of tropical dry forest, mangrove and sea. That mix makes it one of the most alive corners of the Colombian Caribbean.

En los recorridos por el manglar conviven el mangle rojo, el mangle negro, el mangle blanco y el mangle botoncillo — cuatro especies que sostienen el ecosistema costero y dan refugio a peces, aves y crustáceos. Along the mangrove trails grow red mangrove, black mangrove, white mangrove and buttonwood mangrove — four species that hold the coastal ecosystem together and shelter fish, birds and crustaceans.

En tierra, la fauna sorprende a quien camina con atención. En los árboles cercanos a las cabañas es común ver osos perezosos moviéndose lentos entre las ramas, escuchar a los monos aulladores al amanecer y cruzarse con cangrejos azules de tierra que aparecen después de las lluvias. El cielo se llena de colibríes, pájaros carpinteros, garzas, pelícanos, tijeretas y muchas otras aves típicas del Caribe — un destino discreto pero generoso para quienes les gusta el avistamiento. On land, the wildlife rewards the attentive walker. Sloths move slowly through the trees near the cabins, howler monkeys call at dawn, and blue land crabs appear after the rains. The sky fills with hummingbirds, woodpeckers, herons, pelicans, frigatebirds and many other Caribbean species — a quiet but generous spot for birdwatchers.

En los meses secos, los robles florecidos pintan el paisaje de rosado y amarillo. Es una temporada corta, pero quien la alcanza guarda el recuerdo del Caribe en su versión más inesperada. In the dry months, the flowering roble trees paint the landscape in pink and yellow.
